National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Vindhyachal will be setting up a carbon capture plant this year. Upon completion, the plant is expected to be the country's first to capture carbon dioxide emitted from a power plant and convert it into methanol, which will be used in the boiler operations of the unit
The project achieved 89 percent plant load factor (PLF). In addition to producing power, the station is committed to environmental preservation, rural development, and the welfare of displaced people
While there is a big barrier in managing the plant's 100 percent utilisation of fly ash, the station is determined to addressing it. In order to make this easier, a plant that produces ash bricks will be established. These bricks will be used in the project and on residential properties first, with plans for larger-scale implementation upon successful operation
